Life Ready
Life Ready is a mandatory 25-hour program for students in Years 11 and 12 in NSW public schools, designed to prepare and support senior students as they face health and safety challenges while gaining independence and responsibility. The program helps students build practical knowledge and skills for life after school.
At James Ruse Agricultural High School, we adopt a holistic approach to education, supplementing classroom learning with programs that develop skills beyond academics. The focus is on helping high performing and gifted students transition into independent, responsible young adults ready to contribute positively to their communities.
Year 11 School Camp
The program helps students learn how to think carefully about health and exercise so they can make good choices to stay healthy and active. The camps are designed to build strength and good mental health in teenagers, especially to prevent depression and related difficulties.
During the camp, students take part in fun team activities like flying fox, raft building, climbing challenges, giant swing, bike riding, canoeing, and archery. They also enjoy campfire and movie nights, which help them bond with each other.
Road safety Youth Driver Awareness (RYDA) Program
RYDA, delivered in partnership with Road Safety Education, provides a one-day, engaging workshop that uses a student inquiry learning approach to equip students with the knowledge, habits, and motivation to act responsibly and stay safe as road users throughout their lives.
