Congratulations and thank you to Gillian Haslehust-Smith who retired on Wednesday after serving our school for 25 years and 5 months. Gillian was a wonderful asset to our support staff and served the school generously over this time. Working closely with three Principals, Gillian organised over 100 formal ceremonies – Awards Days, Presentation Nights, ANZAC services, Cadet Passing Out Parades and Prefect Inductions. A consummate professional, every event Gillian organised honoured our traditions and ensured every student and teacher felt special. Gillian worked closely with over 26 prefect bodies and is well remembered by our past captains and prefects.
Mrs Haslehust-Smith has proof read and edited thousands of Year 12 references; taken hours of minutes (in perfect shorthand), ensured the successful enrolment of all students and been a friend and advisor to many parents. As a member of our staff, Gillian will be missed. A wonderful friend is retiring and we wish Gillian a spectacular retirement filled with holidays, singing and music. On Wednesday our Year 12 Jazz Ensemble led by Ms Jenns serenaded Ms Haslehust-Smith on the steps of Barrengary House. Their beautiful voices singing “Goodnight Sweetheart” evoked many tears in Gillian’s colleagues and friends
