Angus Stud
Since 1990, James Ruse AHS has been a continuous member of Angus Australia, breeding purebred Angus stud cattle for quality heifers and steers.
The herd descends from the original genetics establishing the first JR herd. The current bull, Wongalea Mozart, was purchased in 2018, with his first calves born in 2019. The cattle enterprise supports teaching Year 9 Beef Cattle, the HSC Beef Product Study, and large animal handling skill development for future veterinarians.
Steers are sold to local schools for Sydney Royal Easter Show preparation, with JR Quasi winning a carcass medal in 2021’s hoof and hook competition. The artificial breeding program, originally started in 2000, was resumed in 2023.
