Vegetable Production

Students from Years 7 to 10 grow their own produce year-round, with brassica crops in winter and potatoes popular in Semester 2.

A commercial hybrid sweetcorn crop is grown over Christmas for Year 9 to study commercial production. Pest and disease control includes biological treatment with Dipel for Cabbage White Butterfly and crop rotation. Plots are rested and rotated to build soil nutrients and structure, while green manure crops are grown, grazed by cattle, and ploughed in before flowering.
