The James Ruse farm has seen a number of sheep enterprises over the years. The current focus is on sheep meat production. First Cross Ewes are purchased and crossed with a Poll Dorset terminal sire. Prime Lambs are born in July and grown to a weight of 25-30 kg and sold through local saleyards.
In the past, the Romney Marsh stud enterprise gave many students the opportunity to exhibit their animals at local and regional shows successfully and the Sharlea (shedded) Sheep were unique in producing quality wool in a highly intensive system.
